The Hawkens produced a variety of guns for the local trade. They were called Squirrel, Turkey, or Missouri rifles, and came in a variety of sizes and degree of refinement. Most were simple hunting or target guns but some were scaled down Plains Rifles. Our version retains much of the style of the plains rifle. The basic rifle has one forearm key and a pewter nosecap/entry pipe. Available options allow you to upgrade to a light Plains rifle.

I am almost 70 years old and I have bad shoulders so packing around my 50 Cal Hawkins is like packing around a steel pipe, what I am looking for is a 40 Cal Hawkins with a short stock with a swamped barrel or tapered barrel which ever is the lightest to carry. And not to difficult to build. Thank You
Interested in half stock squirrel rifle. How much inleting is done? What barrel is included if tapered .40? Price with hooked breach, long bar trigger, double keyed, nose and entry pipe?
